The Seri Kasih office, a welcoming space in George Town

George Town, Penang

A Practice Built Around People, Not Proceedings

Seri Kasih was founded with a simple idea: that family matters deserve a patient ear and a steady hand, long before any formal steps are taken.

Our Story

Where Seri Kasih Began

Seri Kasih — which means Radiance of Affection in Malay — was established in George Town with one purpose in mind: to offer family legal guidance that felt less like a formal proceeding and more like a steady conversation with someone who understands.

The name reflects the spirit of the practice. Family matters, by their nature, touch on relationships, identity, and the people we care for most. We felt that approaching them with warmth and genuine attention was not just preferable — it was necessary.

From our office on Jalan Burma, we serve families across Penang who are navigating some of the most personal decisions of their lives. Our work covers first consultations for those who simply need clarity, mediation for those hoping to reach agreements without conflict, and careful formal representation where that becomes necessary.

We do not believe in hurrying clients or pressing them towards conclusions they are not ready for. Every person who comes through our door does so at a different stage, with a different story, and that shapes everything about how we work with them.

Our Mission

To provide family legal services that put the person at the centre — offering clear information, honest guidance, and respectful support throughout every stage of a personal matter.

Our Vision

A legal practice known in Penang for treating difficult family moments with the dignity and care they deserve — making professional guidance accessible to anyone who needs it, regardless of their circumstances.

Our Values

  • Listening before advising
  • Plain language over legal jargon
  • Confidentiality as a foundation
  • Respect for every family's situation

Family Law in Penang

What We Know About This Work

Family law in Malaysia covers a wide range of personal matters — from the early stages of understanding one's position in a difficult home situation, through to the formal resolution of property, custody, or dissolution proceedings under the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 or the relevant personal law applicable to each family's circumstances.

In Penang, as in many parts of Malaysia, these matters carry cultural weight alongside legal complexity. The families who come to us are often managing relationships, traditions, and obligations that extend beyond the immediate legal question. Our team is familiar with this landscape and tries to reflect it in the way we approach each situation.

We work with clients from across the island — from George Town to Bayan Lepas and beyond — and across different backgrounds and community contexts. We are comfortable working in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and we aim to make our guidance accessible regardless of a client's familiarity with legal processes.

Whether a client comes to us needing a single, clarifying conversation or steady support over a longer period, we adapt to what is needed. Our commitment is simply to be useful, honest, and respectful throughout.
